Where’ve I been…?
Week 34
Really? That long already…
The good news is, I’m more or less on track with what I wanted to accomplish. I had divided by year up in to little modules with specific tasks and technologies to tackle in each module. Module #2 (September – December 2020) was to be dedicated to learning React. Which I got a good start on. I did some of the freeCodeCamp React section and also worked through most of this 10 hour React Course on YouTube via freeCodeCamp.
Module #3 (January – May 2021) was to be dedicated to building real world sites, beginning with re-building some of our websites for our various projects and businesses. I’ve actually got a bit of a head start on that.
I started a simple portfolio site using Gatsby.js with Sanity.io as the back end. I’ve also started to rebuild the Linden Project website, (also using Gatsby and Sanity), since it’s slightly more complicated. Maybe more on that project later.
Other TODOs…
As I’m typing this I’m realizing I need to put together a few more basic React projects. I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on the basics, but it would be good to reinforce the concepts with a few more mini projects.
I’m also re-committing myself to updating this space more regularly. I’ve had no problems keeping busy, but in addition to the benefits of keeping a record of what I’ve been doing, I think writing this as I go helps me keep my energies a bit more focused. I definitely fall victim to shiny-object syndrome so a bit of discipline is warranted.
